ComparitiveEssay

My brother and I had always been a like at similar ages; although I never understood that when he said that we would be a like. Yet at the same time we are very different. One memory that I have of this is very fresh. When he was my age he would have loved to get out on Thursday for break and have a week off; but now even though I still would love the week off my brother got out last Friday and has a month off. This makes me very jealous and want that month but it conveys how much we were different but the same we were/are. In the novels My Brother Sam is Dead and High Heat Tim and Shane are a little like my brother and I. They have many similarities but at the same time differences.

Shane and Tim are very similar; one example is that they both had to overcome the loss of their dads. This was shocking to them because the loss of their dads were both very unexpected. Due to the very unexpected deaths they had to man up to become the man of the house. They had to help their moms through the time of mourning. With Tim him and his dad were on a supply run and on the way back it snowed a boat load. Tim's dad went ahead and Tim was getting suspicious; he never found his dad and he was later reported dead. Shane's dad got arrested, was bailed out and was depressed. No body knew what was going on with him until he committed suicide. Tim had to run the tavern and take more tasks at home;  Shane had to take more care of his sister when his mom was working, he had to take all of the crap at school too. Now may I remind you that these two very similar kids grew up in different times. Tim grew up where everyone found out at different times cared but after a little bit it was back to normal.  With Shane his dads death was on the front page of the paper. Since Shane lived in a rich area everyone made fun of him because a crime in his area hasn't been committed in a very long time. Tim would have been the talk of the town if he had gone too school because everyone would be asking him questions about his dad.

Stating the fact that Shane came from a very wealthy family it was very hard for them because they had to fend for themselves now that the money was taken by the government from them. They found a car, a town house and the worst to the kids a new school. Their mom had to start working and stop being an at home mom. With Tim his mom had to really up the anti. Tim's mom had to start to do the same caliber  of work that Tim did(But not the exact same work), Tim had to replace his dad; who runs the tavern. Since it was the winter and the war was going on. They struggled to get food and supplies; they ran out faster than usual because they didn't  make their annual run to New York. In this way they both have to fend for themselves. With all of the similarities there are some differences.

With all of the similarities there are many differences. There are two major examples; one is their schooling. Tim didn’t have the chance to go to school, growing up on a farm/tavern is hard enough work itself. Yet Tim knew what he needed to know. On the other hand Shane has supreme schooling. Shane went to a private school in Oregon with very prestigious teachers. Shane knew everything there was to know. The reason why their schooling was different was the needs around the house; if there hadn’t been the need in Tim’s household he could have gotten the equivalent amount of schooling to Shane but we don’t know. On top of that another major difference is the time period that they each grew up in. Tim grew up in a much more troubling time; with the war, no technology, all day chores and staying on your toes if the war comes to your city/village. Tim has it a lot worse than Shane; Shane is growing up in the modern time period. Shane comes from a very rich family so he had all the gadgets, almost no chores and was the star on the baseball team. Due to these very different times they grew up very different boys. They still grew up very well but Tim had more to worry about than Shane. Yet they both grew up in very Bad times with no father to grow up with.

Can you understand and realize what these kids had to grow up with? Would you be able to understand it? Or do you want to just pass these kid’s lives up and not think about the troubles they had? Just think: my brother is getting a nice month off; coming home relaxing until my mom wants him to work all day and he has to do everything. With a sudden change like that it can really mess someone up. However, my brother's life still won't be as messed up as the lives of Shane and Tim.

Walk of a Lifetime

In the novel My Brother Sam is Dead there are many terrible events that take place. Yet for every event there is a purpose behind it. Sometimes it the result is worth the risk and sometimes it ends up for the worst and multiple people get hurt. Especially in the aspect of war.
There are many major events that have a cause and effect in this novel. One major example is during the winter they were running out of resources and they need to get to the new york area to sell cattle. His dad isn't really he is jut against the war. They were stopped by rebels because they were afraid that they would sell the cattle to the lobster backs. So the rebels roughed them up a little bit then an escort came and took them to their destination. They sold their cattle in exchange for many supplies needed to keep a tavern open. On their way back they ran into some trouble, it started to snow. They decided to keep on  chugging and go through the snow. Tim's dad would go a head come back and check up on him, after a while Tim got suspicious  because his dad hadn't come back in a while. Tim was getting worried after a while he didn't bother so he sat down ate some jerky and drank some wine and got drunk. The whole way home he put each foot in front of the other until he was back at the tavern. Later in the story on a British prison ship Tim's dad had died. Now the cause in this example from the novel would be that they had to go because they were running out of supplies and it was also their annual run. There are many effects of this. They were all bad except one Tim realized he had to become a man and he did. All the other effects were bad mourning in the community/family, another unneeded death to separate the colonists and the British plus taking away the "Life" of the tavern(Tim's dads name meant life,).
Sure there are many other examples with their very own causes and effects, but this was a turning point in the book.He would never have risked his life to try to help his brother or other man like things. When everything is said and done, what is done is done. But everyone is  wondering how much of this book is true. Well all of it is except the actions of the characters, the writers were just predicting how they would act. That  is what made this book a Newbery Honor Book.

Bright Lights and a Bigger City

Authors Note:This was a creative piece based on a setting and a character given to us. This story takes place in the Bronx with a very sophisticated kid named Drew

Once upon a time in the big city there was a little kid named Drew. He found himself wondering off the play grounds at school. He saw a big white van with a mysterious man asking little kids mysterious questions. So Drew being as curious as he is went over to the van. The man said “Hi my names Paul, can you help me look for my lost dog?” Drew was wondering why he didn’t just look himself. Then Paul said “I’ll give you candy as a reward,” now that really tripped Drew’s trigger candy was Drew’s favorite. So they went out together looking for Paul’s dog until they saw what had looked to be movement far in the distance. So they ran and ran, then Drew started to hear voices and people crying. Drew snapped back into it, he was in a court house on the stand and he saw Paul in the vicinity of him then a lawyer said “Did he touch you or make you do wrong things” there was a long pause. Then Drew replied “Yes that man did many things to me but I liked some of it, the journey was fun and he still gave me candy I was promised,” “but did he force you to do anything””In the beginning yes but then like I said I liked it and I started playing along I’m sorry I know this ruins your case but he’s innocent.”. “Has the jury come to a verdict,” said the judge “Yes we have your honor Guilty for child molestation but not guilty for rape,” I see this court is dismissed!

High Heat Expository Essay

Authors Note: This is an expository essay describing the main conflict, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. I picked this book because I really enjoy sports books.

In the book High Heat by Carl Deuker the main character Shane is a pitcher for his high school baseball team. During one of his games his dad got arrested for money laundering and doing deals with drug lords. They easily posted bail (due to all of the money from the deals) and soon he wasn’t acting the same he couldn’t handle everything that was going on, which brings me to the main conflict Shane’s dad commits suicide. In addition to that they lose of their all money to the government.

Due to the main conflict Shane’s mom is forced to sell the house and look for other housing. Shane had to transfer schools and start off fresh, but instead of wanting people to know him he wanted people to stay away from him. Shane was still trying to get over the grief of his father passing. After a few weeks he got arrested because he was doing bad things with the wrong people. His probation was to go and fix a baseball field at the local boys and girls club. He had to fix the baseball diamond. After he was done the head of the club invited him in then asked Shane the most acward question; Do you play baseball. Shane had recently quit baseball because of his dad. Shane said that he used to and the man had tried to convince him to try out for his team and Shane stormed off. Shane’s probation officer had come to his duplex to check up on him and then said that Shane would need counseling if he didn’t participate in anything. Then Shane agreed to try out for the baseball team. Then the probation officer said that you should like the coach Shane he’s a nice guy. Now it was the day of try outs Shane saw the coach it was the boys and girls club director. Within the first ten minutes he was complementing Shane, Shane easily made the team. Shane was a pitcher; he was the best on the team they were on a run until they hit a bye week. After their last practice that week they had been told by their coach that he was trying to schedule something. Shane had hurried to the library and went on his old schools site and saw they had a bye week too, he knew what coach was doing. They were playing Shorelake the kid that’s parents bought Shane’s old house was now on the team and he was some hot shot hitter, Shane remembered the last words they had said I’d like to off you sometime; his words echoed through Shane’s head he knew some how he would pitch against him and it happened. On the first pitch Shane threw a strike outside, next pitch was farther outside called a strike so the hitter peaked at the catcher and saw him outside so he crept out then Shane threw the ball high and inside.
The next thing everyone knew was that he was on the ground ambulance coming. This is the climax nothing is ever the same for Shane or the hitter ever again. Shane can never stop thinking about it. After that they start losing because Shane can’t close any games. During the next summer Shane helps the hitter get a little better at batting in the off season. Shane also played baseball every day that summer with some kids from baseball and some older guys. Then Shane comes back next year ready to pitch and does magnificent. They did so well that they were in a tournament to have a chance to go to state. In that tournament they face Shane’s old team Shane’s in as a closer and for the last out he faced the batter hat he hit before. Shane struck him out on three straight pitches but Shane still wasn’t in a good state of mind while they won the hitter still hadn’t come back to hit good again. Then there was a party for a fun filled season where Shane declares he got a full ride to the University Of Portland and everyone was happy.
The conflict was when his dad killed himself but then the climax was a conflict of its own and the climax was partially resolved when he helped the batter rehabilitate. There was one thing though that bothered me about the book. It didn’t continue with the tournament it ended right after their party. Because the author left this out of the book he left out a lot of detail. He also could have added a ton of extra pages while going through the tournament to state and to college with Shane. But with all of the missing details the book was still very good.

Class Choices

At school you have many choices for classes. Some may be an easy A yet some might be really hard but the challenge that you need. You never know until you try those classes. Some might be for the fun of it too like tech ed. For example in Tech Ed 2 right now we designed and are currently building co2 dragsters. But if you choose a class you might like and then you don't like it you stuck with it for 3 months. There are many choices you have to make at school witch will relate to your life sooner or later.

Sports

I am a huge fan of sports plus I compette in many of them too. I play golf, football, baseball and wrestling but I use to play tennis, basketball and soccer. The sports I use to play I still find fun but one of the sports that I wanted to play but never got to is hockey and lacrose which i find almost the same just hockey on ice and lacrose on grass. I absolutly love hockey and lacrose. I sometimes even follow them. You get to hit people but you have to be very athletic. In fact The Stanley Cup is about to start today with the Canucks of Vancoover and The Boston Bruins, and the college champions of lacrose this year was Virgina.

Nba Playoffs

The NBA playoffs have been going on for a while. It is almost to the finals and my team is out. The Oklahoma City Thunder but my other team is still in it Da Bulls. I don't get why they can't make the playoffs shorter because each sires is best out of seven unlike football where it is one game. This idea would make it more intense and interesting. Yet when it comes down to the big game no matter  who is in it I want the east to win.

Belly Boarding

Belly boarding, many people haven't heard of it because my friend invented it. Belly boarding is interesting, you wear wrist guards  and lay on your belly on a skate board going down hills it's really fun.
Sure it doesn't sound the best but we take all safety precautions. You can go what ever speed you want because the pads slow you down depending on how much pressure you put on them. Belly boarding is really fun in the summer when you don't have anything to do.

My Ipod

My iPod has a huge crack in it. The crack gets really annoying when trying to play games or just click on something. This was an unfortunate accident because we don't really know how it happened and my warranty didn't cover a cracked screen. We think it happened at a friends house with about 5 people over and I don't want to accuse anyone of doing this but I just have to get use to it.

Baseball

My baseball season is a lot different than a lot of other kids. It started in December with indoor practices at next level but now we only have about 2 free days away from baseball a week. I guess if you want to play on this level you have to but it does get really annoying. 2 games a week with 2 or 3 practices. Yet in the summer you know what all your friends schedules are and get to hang out with them. Last year was probably our greatest experience. We went to Cooperstown, NY for a huge tournament with teams from around the nation. For seven days it was pure baseball and friends it was great. That's baseball for ya.

This School Year

It has been a pretty short school year. We as seventh graders have learned many things and have had to adapt to many new things. But the best thing this year has been the trips, clubs and after school sports. For example the ski trips have been real fun especially the one on the half day to the far away place. Wrestling is a whole other experience though. You practice everyday and travel to different schools it feels like your in a pro sport. Middle school has been the best year of school ever!

Inside Life

There he was Carl Flaxington on the dream run in the super bowl. Down by six they just needed this touchdown and the extra point. It sounded so easy, he went over it in his head 100 times. Just say hike and throw the ball he thought to himself. "Here we are 3 seconds left in the 4th quarter the Broncos down by six to the Colts. It looks like the broncos aren't giving up for 5 yards away on 4th down," said the announcer. Carl snaps the ball looks right fakes left. It was open the receiver in the end zone he just had to get it there. The ball flew out of his hand like a bullet. The receiver caught it and the crowd went crazy. For the extra point and it split the uprights. The Broncos won the super bowl! Then the Quarter back got sad and left before the ceremonies.

Once everybody was back in Denver he called a meeting telling them why he had left and they understood and wanted to help. Then some how the coached had found Carl's phone and heard the voice mails and felt bad. Carl's mom died in an unfortunate accident and his dad critically injured. His dad was on the brink of death and his brother had a mental condition so he came and lived with him. For Carl on the night of the super bowl this was not the news he wanted to hear. In the mail he started getting flowers and gifts but he knew of only one thing that would make him forget about this.

So the next day he got a letter to come to the police station to talk with some councilors to over come this. Carl went to the police station but not for the councilors but to try to find his parents killer. Next he went to a private eye investigator to get clues a photos of the guy and the crime scene. He took all that to the Lawyers Firm that his parents knew. After a couple days they were in court and it went by fast because of what he had done to that family and the result was guilty Carl and his brother cheered and could live in peace but they still had to live with the fact that there parents were gone.

Schools Out

All you can hear is " 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Schools over" from every kid in the school. Everybody runs out the door as fast as a wildfire spreads. Immediately kids are making plans having sleep over's and playing sports. But that didn't happen for Robert he was the toughest and the meanest, some say that he has been to juvenile facilities 4 times. Even though he picked on every kid in the school they all felt bad for him because he had to make up every detention he skipped, homework he didn't do even clean up all the graffiti and vandalism he had done to the school.

Almost every day of the summer the kids brought him snacks and lunch. They all thought what it would be like having to work in thing you hated most for the whole summer and felt bad for him. Kids had more sleep over's baseball games then one of the summer school teachers mentioned football to him. He thought to himself "this is my ticket out of this place". Soon Robert signed up and all of the sporty kids had signed up he had showed them how good he was at sports. And Everybody wanted to be his friends.

The next year of school of school has come. Every one was surprised that Robert has changed so much. He had changed his clothes, attitude and became popular. Then it was just normal school that everybody hated and no body new what happened to Robert that summer but they didn't care as long as there was one more brighter soul in the school.

Music into Meaning

Nothing good will ever happen too us. We don't just say but we act it out, our lives are going nowhere unless we take action. Yet lots of good things happen in the world. We feel bad for those who feel this way but we don't really know their life and experience it. I'm sure if anyone who lived in the ghetto as a child has had one thing happen that has changed their life. Lupe Flasco understands and pushes people in this situation in his song " The Show Goes On," and has touched those people in the way that it shows somebody cares.

Anybody can make a huge mistake or a great finding, all in the matter of seconds. Right when we see what we have done we notice if we made a mistake or if we did something good. Lupe explains it if as a ghetto boy or girl, they've never been noticed because they aren't in the best place. They need to rise up to the occasion and do something great. He shows that because the way he says those things in his song trying to encourage them. They need to do something great to get out of the enclosing darkness of the ghetto.

I have experienced having to prove myself many times to get noticed by classmates, my brother and my step dad. I try out for many teams for the past 4 years I've tried out for the baseball team, I made it the first year but the next year changed me. I got cut from the team I felt terrible if there was only one way I could get back onto that team I would be happy. So then I realized what it felt like to get cut from the team and still keep trying out for it just like all the other kids. So I worked during the season by playing pyb( Pewaukee youth baseball) but there wasn't much compition there. Then I went to a camp with some friends and got great evaluations and to top it all of in the off season I worked with one of the coaches until tryouts. After the tryout I had gotten my letter. I was frightened to open thinking about last year. Then I thought is this really what I want to hide from things I couldn't do? Finally all of that hard work payed off and I made the team. Another special thing happened that year my team went to Cooperstown, NY for an all-star tournament. But thanks to that year I had learned very much about many things.

In Lupe's song it talks about being in your dream waking up and living it but its underlying meaning is clear: You can do anything you put your mind to. Don't think your nothing. Don't wait to get sucked into the darkness of life just stick to your head and be the person you can be. But it all starts right now. So live your life.

Authors note: This piece was written based on pieces of garbage we got.
Plastic knife
Straw
A piece of stretchy string
Hot wheels truck
Bead necklace
Bobby pin
Business card

Once upon a time there was a man who was small enough to use a hot wheel truck as his ride. One day when the man was exploring he found that many small items have minds and can talk. Soon the man ran into his owners business card and it started talking to him he thought that is was a spy camera that his owner placed there so he took it to the toaster and threw it in and the bobby pin came to his side and said that he was one of us so quickly he hit the cancel button and he popped out of that horrible place. They started venturing around again and ran into the straw. They started getting wild ideas on how to use the claw but they decide to use it for everything.

Later that night around dinner they were spying on the humans and they saw the knives they were using and they were dieing being suffocated by all of the food. They felt sorry for the food soon on their way they ran into a rubber band and figured that they could sling shot themselves using the straw and the band. They fell short of the table and into the chair they looked up to see the humans but they saw beads on the light. Then they thought there must be some type of festivities. Then the man read the business card and they figured out they were in Louisiana. It must have been Martigras. They planned out their revenge on humans. Don don don………….

What would it be like to have destroyed something of which you loved? In this story we meet the king’s most noble fowler named Hugh. Hugh will do anything the king asks because his motto servo which means I serve my master. But that motto gets him into a lot of trouble as he will find. The tragic plotline and symbolism together with the realism of this story teach us a moral lesson so we can learn from our mistakes.

The plotline of the story perfectly fits that of tragic literature. In the beginning the world is in conflict for Hugh because he sees this beautiful woman and wants to be with her. But the king wouldn’t let that happen to his precious. Next is Hugh’s rise to power. Hugh gets to catch the birds for the kings wedding and he gets excited. Soon after is Hugh’s tragic flaw the one white and silk dove that he could never catch every time he failed. Hugh’s tragic fall is when he waits and waits and waits then sees the bird in the meadow. He slowly moves up on it and throws his net and jumps on it. But he finally cracks at the death symbolism. The bird starts talking to him and says he will give him riches, fame, and the girl. But right then he ripped the servo patch right off of his tunic and snapped the bird’s neck. Unfortunate events follow that too because the wedding was canceled. But this isn’t the only thing that makes this a tragedy.

In addition to the plotline fitting the tragic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. Most of the symbolism doesn’t fit into this category though. The trees might fit into this category because in the story she doesn’t specify the type of tree. But there are birds and other animals. There were also kings and queens involved with the story. Yet there is one more thing that I think I can persuade you with.

Finally, in the story “The Hundredth Dove” Hugh’s life is in control. There are many reasons one may say that because of how he acted in the end. His life is in control of the way that he lives his life he feeds the birds and all calmly and keeps to himself. This story is also realistic because there were kings and queens with servants’ way back when. With that i have one more thing to say.

The story “The Hundredth Dove” portrays a happy fowler, who is sad about the things that he had done but still enjoys his life. Through the use of symbolism the author lets us as readers identify what the troubles that the real world brings and how we have to work together with people or birds to do what’s right the first time and not have to learn from our first mistake. When there is death and death symbolism, the tragic cycle is complete and the reader experiences concern and doubt for those involved.

Video Games

Friday is the best day of the week. There are many reasons someone may say that though. It may be because no more school until Monday or you can hang out with your friends and sleep in. But some adults don't like it being Friday because they have to work on the weekend depending on their job and their kids fooling around. But all in all Friday is a great day.

Personal Metaphor

Authors Note: This is a personal metaphor created in class based on a writing activity found in Tom Vopat's book Writing Circles

I am a gamer battling through the challenges of life.

I am a snowboarder hungry for excitement.

I am a wrestler positive on and off the mat.

I am a Wisconsinite packed in the snow of greatness.

I am the soldier who never blows his composure

Amigo Brothers

What would it be like to fight your best friend that you thought of as a brother? Well in this story we meet Antonio Cruz and Felix Vargas, two fighters that grew up in Manhattan. Their dreams were to be the world’s greatest boxer. They had entered in many tournaments and this was their year but they soon had to overcome a challenge that was larger than they imagined. The comic plotline and symbolism together with the realism of this story teach us the felling that we can solve our own problems big or small.

The plotline of the story perfectly fits that of comic literature. In the beginning it was a normal day for both of them. They ran and worked out together. Then the main character causes a minor conflict. They both wanted to be the best and that would be determined in the division finals where they would meet and see who was better. Next the conflict is realized when they try working out together and they have a talk. During that talk Felix mentions having a fair fight and not seeing each other until then and he proceeded with that. Felix is staying with his aunt in the Bronx now and is going to be zeroed in on the fight. Soon the only way for there to be a resolution is the fight. As they step into the ring they shake hands and go to their corners. The fight begins and they both get torn up to pieces by the other. The match is signaled by the bell since no one was knocked out the announcer was going to say the winner’s name. But the winner was too busy walking out of the ring with his friend. That’s how it was resolved and they are still best friends and back to everyday life.

In addition to the plotline fitting the comic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. During the whole story it is noon or a little after noon. The scenery is sunny and they don’t have a porch but they have a balcony which is like your porch when you live in a tenement building. Then they also run along a river every day.

Finally, in the story “Amigo Brothers” they are both in control and handled the situation. That situation that the Amigo Brothers faced was very difficult for acme bond brothers and they did a good job on top of it. This whole story is an autobiography which makes it the most realistic it can get because it is real.

The story “Amigo Brothers” portrays two kids from the city of Harlem, finding new and acward opportunities through boxing. Through the use of symbolism the author lets us as readers identify the troubles that the real world brings and how we have to work together with people to solve those problems. When there is normal everyday life again, the comic cycle is complete and the reader experiences happiness and grateful for those two Harlem kids that show us as readers how to solve problems in a friendly matter.

NCAA Mens College Basketball Tournament

The tournament is held every year and only 64 teams can make the cut. This tournament brings in a lot of money and boost the economy because of all the sales from tickets and concessions. About 35 years ago this tournament wasn't so big the NIT tournament was big. Now kids are filling out brackets every day. The "March Madness Tournament" is making a huge comeback.

Acwardest Childhood Moment

One of my acwardest childhood memories is when we moved. When we moved it wasn’t as bad for me as my brother and my mom because kindergarten had just ended. I remembered asking my mom where we were moving and I had never heard of that place ever before but of course I was only five years old. I had thought this would be the worst place ever because it took about 45 minutes to get from Mequon to Pewaukee. I learned that the hard way with everything in the trunk. There are many bad parts about moving, packing and unpacking, finding places to put stuff, leaving your only friends and leaving the special gym set we had made 3 months before we moved.
My first day of school at P.L.E was not that bad even though I tried to convince my mom to let me stay home, I soon would forget of that thought. My teacher asked if there was anyone new to this school so I raised my hand and one or two others did. She made us go up in front of the class and introduce our selves and she assigned us a partner to show us around the school. The person I got was Patrick McKnight he was my first friend here and acwardly my first friend in Mequon was Patrick Mc something. So that whole day I knew someone was there for me.
Once the bell rang for school to be over I was behind Patrick not for any reason I was just behind him. Once we got near the busses he turned around and said you can stop following me now it’s time to go home. Patrick looked on my backpack and noticed that I was on his buss then he introduced me to a lot more people and I fitted in and they liked me to. After one year it had seemed like I had lived there my whole life. One thing I learned from that is that good things will come eventually but you have to wait.

Daylight Savings

I hate daylight savings time when it takes one hour of sleep away. During the night it will be lighter out but then it  feels wrong and your times get all messed up. The only time that I like daylight savings is when it gives you an our of sleep and it doesn't mess your times up as much. When daylight savings time gets me messed up is when I stay up really late on that night. That is why I hate daylight savings time.

Zoo Purple Hard Cover Book Pg 380-382

What would it be like to see interplanetary animals? In this story we meet a horse-spider. They are an exotic animal also known as the people of Kaan. The kids of all areas in the world act extremely good around august. The kids act like that because Professor Hugo’s interplanetary zoo comes around once a year. Every time he brings new exotic animals. Everything is fine for the people of Kaan until the ship comes. The romantic plotline and symbolism together with the unrealisticness of this story teach us the moral lesson of being able to escape everyday life and just wander off.

The plotline of the story perfectly fits that of romantic literature. In the beginning there was a minor conflict when the horse –spiders left their home planet and the people that stayed behind were sad and lonely for quite a while. Yet on the other hand the ones that left didn’t think about the others and how they would feel. Next the last thing in the story is life symbolism. The life symbolism is when all of the horse-spiders return home because all of the families are reunited.

In addition to the plotline fitting the romantic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. In the beginning there are strange creatures and a space ship which should tell you that this story is highly unrealistic. Then there were so many people that loved the odd and exotic animals. You can’t even travel so far so fast to get to the exotic animals. Then a small town outside of Chicago can be romantic.

Finally, in the story “Zoo” Professor Hugo can do no wrong by bringing people pleasure. The animals are better that what we imagine. The main characteristic is that it is a fantasy type vision because you wouldn’t see these animals anytime in your life time. Finally things seem better than they really are because Professor Hugo traveled three planets away in 2 months and it takes an Astronaut more than that to get to the moon.

The story “Zoo” portrays a happy city full of kids and parents, finding new and exciting opportunities through Professor Hugo. Through the use of symbolism the author lets us as readers identify with the troubles that the real world brings and how we have to work together with people or intergalactic beings to escape our minds and go dream once and a while. When there is life symbolism, the romantic cycle is complete and the reader experiences happiness and gratitude for those beings involved.

The plotline of the story “The Cat Who Thought She Was a Dog and the Dog Who Thought He Was a Cat” perfectly fits that of comic literature. In the beginning it was like their whole life. It was a normal day they were thinking that they were the opposite species and acting like it. Soon the main characters owner caused a minor conflict. They bought a mirror and put it up right away. That conflict is realized when they look at themselves and found things wrong with themselves, they tried hiding it or fixing it but that didn’t work out because they don’t have enough money. Next they solved the conflict by giving the mirror back to the salesman and got their money back. Finally it was back to everyday life and that makes you feel you can solve anything.

In addition to the plotline fitting the comic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. At all times it was sunny they never did anything involving the night. Also whenever they did something it was day time. Pets are a huge part in comic literature. In the story there were 2 pets which illustrate the idea of comic literature.

Finally, in the story “The Cat Who Thought She Was a Dog and the Dog Who Thought He Was a Cat” the main characters lives are in control. The mother, by finding a way to get rid of the mirror. Stormbreaker

What would it be like if your uncle who you’ve lived with for almost your whole life had died? In this story we meet Alex Rider. Ian his uncle was the closest thing he had to parents for a long time. Alex was lucky that the “Bank “Ian had worked for gave Jack a permanent Visa. Once the co-workers Ian had worked with came over Alex’s life changed. The tragic plotline and symbolism together with the realism of this story teach us the moral lesson of learning from our mistakes. Which previous to then Alex had a normal life and did nothing wrong.

The plotline of the story perfectly fits that of tragic literature. In the beginning the world was in conflict for Alex getting the terrible news that his closest connection had died. Once the officer had told him how he had died he had to get involved deeper. When Alex had his rise to power he was comforted by Ian’s co-workers. He had found that he would be confronted by them again talking about something that is not what he expected. Next comes his tragic flaw or human weakness. Alex figured out that his dad didn’t work for a bank but he worked for MI6 (US equivalent is the FBI with spies ). He had been asked to work on one of their special missions. He was pulled into that knowing he would get fancy gadgets and all. Alex’s Tragic fall is when he gets trapped in the huge water tank containing a killer jellyfish. The death/death symbolism doesn’t pertain to Alex but something major in the book. Herod Sayle the designer of the system was going to poison all the kids in England. One computer went to every school. Inside every computer there was pneumonia. He wanted to kill every school kid because when he was in school he was bullied by every kid. Wait it doesn’t stop there! Luckily Alex stopped him from launching the poison. Alex chased him down and from out of nowhere Yassen Gregorivich (a Russian assassin) kills Herod and Alex finds that Yassen killed his uncle and promises to kill Yassen .

In addition to the plotline fitting the tragic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. When there was conflict in the beginning there was killing which is tragic. Soon there was lying which was also very tragic because Alex deserved to know what his uncle did. Finally there were very dark people.

Finally, In the story “Stormbreaker” Alex’s life is in control and the other things in the story are realist in all ways. When Alex heard the news about the death and the lies he stayed calm and in control. Through the whole process when learning what to do, going through simulations and getting cheated he stays calm because he knows he’ll get the better in the end.

The story “Stormbreaker” portrays a broken family, finding new opportunities through hard times. Through the use of symbolism the author lets us as readers identify with the troubles that the real world brings and how we have to work together with the people we love or hate and it doesn’t solve those problems. When there is death, the tragic cycle is complete and the reader experiences disoriented and troublesome for those people involved.

When the co-workers had a thorough discussion with Alex he understood what had happened better. Soon Alex also learned in that discussion that they weren’t a bank. His uncle had really worked for MI6. MI6 is like the USA’s FBI but more intense. Now Alex had a choice and he wanted to work for them but he knew the risk. He followed them to their worksite which was disguised as a bank. When he was in the building they took him to a random office. They locked him in there it was a test. Alex wanted to see what was going on in his uncle’s office. Alex opened the window and jumped onto the ledge. He noticed how high up he was but then he noticed the flags and quickly jumped and caught it. Yet he started to slip and he got their attention and they got him.

With that he was given his first assignment “The Stormbreaker”. The Stormbreaker is a computer that has subjects on it and is only used for academics’. First they had to win the competition because whoever one got to test it out. They found out the kid that won and gave him a even better prize. They needed to test it because the inventor was Herod Sayle (he isn’t the best person). Alex’s job was to scout the place out and find out if there was anything weird going on with it. There was only a limited amount of time he had and chances to snoop around. He lots of little gadgets to use like James Bond. When he was situated in his room he looked for bugs with his see through walls gameboy.

Soon Alex had figured out that there was a lab and they were putting a terrible vaccine/poising in the computer. Then Alex had thought back to what he had heard and it made sense. Herod Sayle was bullied while in school and he wanted revenge so he was going to kill every kid in England. Then while Alex was snooping around he got caught and was thrown in the tank with the jelly fish. He managed to escape.

Herod Sayle was at the museum about to launch the Stormbreaker and kill every kid. Alex crashed through the roof and stopped everything. Alex rider saved the day. That is the end to the stormbreaker he still has many more mission’s ahead.

Wrestling

Lots of people make fun of me because I'm a wrestler. But what they don't know is that wrestling is one of the toughest things ever. You have to be mentally and physically tough. They think it's just touching other guys but with a purpose. But it's not touching guys it's destroying physically them making them feel bad. That is why I wrestle.

Snow Days

Snow days are so much fun because you stay inside in your pajamas all day. You can eat whatever you want and can do whatever you want. Yet the worst part about snow days is you don't see your friends or you are sick. When you are sick you sleep all day long and wake up misrable on a glorius day.

Summer

Summer is the best time of the year. The sun is out, you are free to roam. Then on top of that, you have sports. Deep Water Essay

How weird would it be to be afraid of water for almost your whole life? In this story we meet William Douglas. William has been afraid of water for almost his whole life. When he was just a kid wanting to go in water and then once in a teenager changes his life. The comic plotline and symbolism together with the realism of this story teach us the moral lesson of making us feel like we can solve our own problems. Which this man takes into his own hands because he couldn’t stand it any longer.

The plotline of the story Deep Water perfectly fits that of comic literature. In the begging it was a normal day for him but he wanted to learn how to swim but would soon take an unexpected turn. Then he doesn’t really cause a problem but a different main character in his life does. A teenager decided to throw him into the deep end. William hadn’t learned how to swim yet. He struggled and struggled to get but he couldn’t and he passed out. Then whoever pulled him out of the pool realized the conflict that the boy who nearly killed him had done. Years and years later he tries to resolve his problem by hiring a private coach. He trained and trained and trained. The terror still wasn’t gone so he decide to jump of the dock and swim 2 miles to a little island and the fear was gone it fled from his soul. Next it was finally back to his normal everyday life he could put that behind himself.

In addition to the plotline fitting the comic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. In the beginning it was a normal day for everyone which is a sign of comedy. Somebody pulling a prank by throwing him into the water is also comedy. The sun was out because he was swimming and sun in an everyday thing along with lakes, trees, and swimming.

Everything in this story is realistic everybody acts in a realistic way and acts realistic in their situations. William the main character is in control during everything but there are 2 exceptions. When he was drowning he couldn’t control his body actions. And when he swam out to the little island and screamed at the water.

The story Deep Water portrays a man scared of water trying to get rid of that fear and succeeding. Through the use of symbolism the author lets us as readers and viewers identify with the troubles that the real world brings and how we have to work together with the people we love or hate to solve those problems and forgive those who have done wrong. When the man swims the lake he feels that sense of accomplishment and putting that behind him and he wouldn’t feel that way if that wouldn’t have happened.

The Pearl

What would it be like to be living off the land and find something of great value? In this story we find Juana and Kino with their son Cyotito. Kino is a pearl diver who lives in a hut and every morning he has corncakes. Kino’s view on life has been simple with songs and ancient culture and then a scorpion changes his life. The tragic plotline and symbolism together with the realism of this story teach us the moral lesson of learning from our mistakes. Which previous to then Kino had done no wrong but when he took the pearl to power it gets stuck in his head for way too long.

The plotline of the story The Pearl perfectly fits that of tragic literature. In the beginning, the world was in conflict for Kino and Juana when Cyotito gets stung by the scorpion. Juana rushes and tries to suck the poison out of Cyotito’s system. The couple goes to the doctor’s home and denies their baby so Juana knowing what to do in these situations made an antidote of sea weed. Kino and Juana went out on their boat to dive for pearls and while down under water he finds what he calls the pearl of the world and howls like wolf because they found out that Cyotito is getting better. That was Kino’s rise to power but next is his tragic flaw. Once Kino got the pearl word spread in a flash. Everyone everywhere knew of this pearl of the world. Kino was thinking what to buy but the thoughts just keep coming and Kino said “For it is said that humans are never satisfied, that you give them one thing and they want something more” pg 25.After his thoughts he was going to sell it but they never gave him the price he wanted. Then he started to get greedy and go to the capital to see if he could get more money. Next is the tragic fall the night before Kino is going to sell it Juana takes it and tries to throw it back in the water because she thinks it’s destroying their family. Soon Kino catches up to her and beats her before she can throw it and then she understands Kino’s anger in why he beat her. Kino heard a sound and got in a fight with an unknown man and killed him they had to hide. Kino hid with his brother Juan Thomas until they’d leave on their voyage. The next day they left but they ran into trouble a couple of bounty hunters. They stalled for as long as they could but they had to make a run for it they hid in the mountains for as long as they could and the bounty hunters were guarding a water source. Final death or death symbolism and Cyotito Kino and Juana’s Baby gets shot and dies. Juana and Kino are forever sad and mad at the pearl.

In addition to the plotline fitting the tragic mode of literature, so does the symbolism found in the story. In the beginning it was a normal day for everyone. Then there are tons of songs but most of the story it is the song of evil which is a sign of tragedy. The scorpion that bit Cyotito was a tragic symbol. But all of the wants Kino had weren’t good or bad so it is almost tragic that he can’t choose. Kino running away from everybody is also a sign of tragedy.

Finally, in the story The Pearl the main character is in control and the other characters behave in a realistic way. Kino, Juana and Cyotito, the main characters, are definitely in control throughout the story as they go on journeys together. In addition the main characters are always thinking about what to do. Also In this story everything is a realistic vision or non- fiction which makes everything seem as real as it can get.

The story The Pearl portrays a native group of people, helping each other to get along. Through the use of symbolism the author lets us as readers and viewers identify with the troubles that the real world brings and how we have to work together with the people we love or hate to solve those problems. When Kino and Juana came home sad without Cyotito for death and death symbolism, the tragic plotline is complete and the reader and viewer experiences sadness and a family torn apart due to the pearl.

Final Reeflection on The Pearl

In the book the pearl one of my favorite parts so far is when Kino finds the pearl of the world while their baby is recovering from a scorpion bite. The reason why it is my favorite part is because it is exciting because it talks about everything a pearler has to do to even try to find a muscle. They pearls inside the muscle is formed by accident so it is luck if you find one. The pearl could help the baby but why would the baby need help if it is getting better? Well in the next part we read it appears that the baby still needs help but the doctor might have given something bad to the baby to look like a hero and come back and save it. Kino is on to him. But then You start to think that Kino is crazy because he beats Juana but she understands why. Kino also kills a man in self defense so they run off and are being tracked and cyotito dies. Then Kino throws the pearl back in the river. Finnaly they come to the village in pure shock.

Why does Juana believe the pearl will destroy her and Kino? How will the pearl destroy them? Give examples to support your opinion.

Juana doen't like the pearl because it has drawn hatred and jealousy on them. Juana also thinks that Kino has put everything behind him and is only focused on the pearl and what he can get with it.

Will the pearl destroy the Family

Why does Juana believe the pearl will destroy her and Kino? How will the pearl destroy them? Give examples to support your opinion.

In The Pearl by John Steinbeck Juana believes the pearl will destroy the family because know everyone knows about Kino's dicovery and is dreaming of things they could get with it which drives them to try to steal it. As Kino even called them a colonial animal. Then Kino looks into the pearl to see what will happen for him in the future. The doctor and the priest come to see if they can do anything and see if they have any connections. But the doctor lied about not knowing the pearl finding and he gave cyotito bad medicine on purpose and kino is kinda on to that
